Sorry, sugar. I would love to virtually discuss it with you, but my copy from Amazon has still not arrived. Give me a couple of days. When do you come home? H
Indeed. The boys and I drive out this Friday and return the following Saturday. Adam has a little boy friend staying with us for 2 days and kept calling him Caleb. He is pining.
It looks like you are the only one to have finished the book so far. Though I haven't seen much of Dee in the last couple of days. Perhaps she is close on your heals.
My copy came from Amazon this afternoon, but my daughter got to it first. She keeps popping her head out of her room to tell me how good it is. She knows, of course, that if she reveals anything at all about the book, she is dead to me. I know she's my only daughter, but one must draw a line somewhere. Anyway, at the rate she's going I should get a shot at the book by tomorrow morning- hope, hope. -Joan
Got the book Tuesday afternoon. Read half Tuesday night...took kids to Wannado City Wednesday so I could let them run rampant while I finished reading in the semidarkness. So good. So very good. There has to be more.
Ground and her and have her do all the laundry, etc, that I won't be doing. Yes, this idea definitely has promise! I'm on 208, she's on 540. Loving it so far. -Joan
I was amused by an article I read saying there was a lot of backlash regarding several scenes. Let me know when you've all read it and I'll post and we can discuss.
I was surprised at how quickly in the book the wedding happened and Jacob was back in the picture.
I don't have issues with the honeymoon scenes, especially considering that when writing a series for young adults, the characters grow up through the series. Parents with issues can take this as a lovely time to have discussions with their kids. Or they can work out something else about when it's appropriate to read it.
I liked the section from Jacob's perspective because it helped us see better what was happening to Bella. I liked having that different view. It also made the imprinting thing work. I think if we hadn't heard what was going on in Jacob's head we the readers would have been weirded out by it.
I don't have problems with the happy ending that so many others have complained about. I'm okay that things worked out for Bella and family. And that there was just enough unresolved to leave space for our imaginations to wonder what the coming years will hold for the vampires and almost werewolves.
I liked it plenty. There were a few places where I was sure that I knew what was happening next and I was wrong. I love it when that happens. I could have really gotten behind some Volturi ass-whuppin, though.
The thing that kinda made me laugh, was that people were "grossed out" by the birthing scene...as in the ribs breaking and all the blood and so forth. Two things: it does sometimes feel like they're going to break a rib...I swear Max had a toe hooked into my ribcage for a good three months - and yes, I realize that's not what it was, but that's what it felt like. Two: any book geared for teens that has garnered such swooning and heady romantic notions of young love that doesn't lay on a bit of pain and gore to balance out all the good stuff is, I think, doing a disservice. Let them know it's painful and gross. Tempers things a bit.

Dumb amazon!!! Grrr. We'll be home next week sometime. Tuesday night, I think. Are you headed out of town again right away?

We will have to have a big ol' playdate when everyone's in town again. Ugh and then school starts. How did summer go this fast?

And again I say, dumb amazon!! Joan, I think you should find a reason to ground your daughter and take the book from her... (I'm such a good mom!)
I am so in love with this book. I couldn't have asked for more. Totally blindsided in so many ways.

Sigh...wasn't what I was hoping for...
Happy,happy,happy.
I was sort of expecting to be disappointed, but overall I am pleased.
Now we start counting down to the movie!

...waiting patiently. :)
...still waiting.
